The Gruffalo

Don't forget!

Money for the Gruffalo trip on Thursday needs to be brought in by tomorrow, Tuesday!

The bus will be leaving the school at 9.20am. The show begins at 10am and lasts for 55mins. The children will have something small to eat before returning to school, so please ensure your child has their packed lunch with them. The children will need to wear their *TRACKSUIT* on the day of the tour. There is no need for your child to bring any money with them.

Junior and Senior Infants will finish school at the usual time of 2pm, and First Class will finish at 3pm, as per the norm.

The tour will cost €15. This includes €10 for entry to the show and €5 for the cost of the bus.

* I mistakenly said the children should wear their uniform in the note that was sent home. Children should wear their tracksuit on Thursday as they will have P.E. later on in the day!

Names

We are working really hard on getting used to recognising and writing our names in school. Today we traced over our names on our table toppers and then we used playdough to make the different letters in our names!

Library Time

Today we went up to our lovely school library. We read our book about Chomp the Shark. Chomp was very nervous on his first day of school because none of the fish wanted to be his friend. We talked about how we would have felt if we were Chomp, and thought of ways to make sure nobody in our classroom would ever be left out.
Then everybody got a chance to look at the books in the library. We had to remember to use our quiet library voices, and to take care of the books.

On Friday, everyone will be allowed to pick two library books to bring home with them. Each Friday the children will return their books, and once they have been returned they can take out two new ones.

Teddy Bear's Picnic

If you go down to the woods today,

You're sure of a big surprise.

If you go down to the woods today,

You better go in disguise.

For every bear that ever there was,

Will gather there for certain because,

Today's the day the teddy bears

Have their picnic!!!

Have a great summer everyone :)

Kadinsky Tree

We used the artist Kadinsky as inspiration for art this week. Kadinsky liked to paint with all the colours of the rainbow. He also painted while listening to music. We played music in the classroom and used oil pastels to draw circles on black card. We started with a small circle in the middle of our page, and then drew and coloured bigger circles around it using lots of different colours.

When everyone cut out their circle, they were put up on our tree. Everyone's Kadinsky circle is
different and unique, and now we have a beautiful new display in our classroom!

Caoimhe agus an Bogha Báistí

Bhí leabhair nua againn an tseachtain seo caite: Caoimhe agus an Bogha Báistí.

Ní maith le Caoimhe torthaí. Duirt Mamaí go mbeidh bogha báistí uirthi má itheann sí toradh gach lá.

D'ith Caoimhe toradh gach lá, agus ansin bhí bogha báistí aici!
