The Travel Agents

We are busy planning our summer holidays in the Junior Room! Have a look at our travel agents role play area...

We are also going to do some art projects from around the world! This week we are making Chinese fans, including some Chinese writing!

There are some cut and paste and writing activities based on our story "Where in the World Shall We Go?" when Kieran and Niamh go to the travel agents.

In the building area the children are constructing famous landmarks from around the world. The boys built the Empire State Building in America today!

Playtime

Playtime is very busy this week! In the build up to St. Patrick's Day we are celebrating the famous 40 shades of green in Ireland! The children are mixing paint to create their own shades of glas and painting some green hills...

There is a cut and paste activity where the children have to sort plant parts and needs...

There is a green scavenger hunt...

The florists is lots of fun, and very messy...what we like best!!!

Planting Seeds

We planted a variety of seeds today! Before we planted them we had to learn about what a plant needs to grow. We used this video to help us...

Then we learned about the parts of a plant too!

Finally, we got to plant the seeds!

This was great practice for working in the Florists next week for playtime!

Fairy Tales and Castles

We have some very exciting news! A fairy has moved into our classroom!!! Her name is Sióg. We have been writing letters to her during English stations to let her know more about us. Bernie baked fairy cakes with the children and we also made fairy castles during playtime.

Because of Sióg we are going to learn about fairytales and castles during January! We began by looking at features of castles, such as a curtain wall, battlements, arrow slits, drawbridges etc. and then we went for walk down to Trim Castle to see if we could find these features. We did some sketching of the castle too.
