Here you can see the other stations for playtime this week. Table 1 was a play-dough station were the children could make food and use markers to label them. I couldn't believe how well the Juniors could figure out what sounds were in what words!!! The art station was great fun-the children had to imagine their favourite dish and construct it using WHATEVER art materials they wanted. There was some amazing creativity here. The role play are was the restaurant. The children got into roles (e.g. customers, chef, waitress) and used props to engage with the drama. They were absolutely brilliant at this station. There was lots of appropriate language, social interactions, free writing, sequencing events...and it was fun too!

Castle Playtime
We have learned loads about castles so far this term, and we are doing a Fairytale and Castles themed playtime this week.
Table 1 were completing patterns with different castle pictures, e.g. knight, drawbridge, moat, shield, etc. As well as following a pattern, the children also got to work on their fine motor skills by cutting and gluing.
Table 2 were designing and decorating an outfit for the Emperor, as we did the story The Emperor's New Clothes last week! The children got a chance to explore different materials, think creatively, work collaboratively and build up fine motor skills.
Table 3 were building castles in the construction area. Before they could begin building, the children had to draw and label their castle and follow their design for the build. There was a lot of collaborative work at this table too!
Table 4 was the drama table, and the children got into role as kings, queens, princesses, knights, good fairies and evil wizards! One day the castle was under attack from an army and the portcullis had to be lowered, another day an evil wizard broke in and caused chaos in the great hall! There was loads of imagination used at this station, as well as great opportunities for oral language development.

Christmas Playtime
Have a look at our Christmas playtime this week. We have some Christmas-themed playdough boards for creative thinking, fine motor skills and oral language. There is also an Art station where the boys and girls are making Gingerbread Children! We have a Write the Room Christmas activity where the children go on a word hunt around the room. Finally, we have a North Pole role-play area. The children will be in role as elves, but also as different people who help us, e.g. doctors, nurses, vets, builders, mechanics etc., depending on what happens in their drama!
