Aistear-The Space Station

Have a look at some of the learning done over the past two weeks, all about space! The children amazed me with the language they used and the creative thinking was out of this world...! We will be sorry to say goodbye to the rocket, but excited for starting a new theme next week!

Astronaut Bootcamp

Last week we had a lot of fun at Astronaut Bootcamp, preparing ourselves Aistear this week. Here are some pictures of us exploring the force of gravity in the classroom. We made a HUGE mess doing the gravity painting, but messy learning is the best kind!

The astronauts-in-training also know an unbelievable amount about the planets in our solar system. We've been learning this song to help us:

Our role play area is ready for blast off this week...who knows what space adventures we'll have???

Santa's Workshop

Have a look at the toys the construction elves have made for Santa! There was some great creative thinking, problem solving, spatial awareness and imagination happening in the Santa's Workshop!

Data-Maths

We have been learning about Data in Maths this week. We know that Data is just a fancy name for collecting information and sharing it.

Here is a 3D chart and bar chart showing which Christmas song the children preferred- Jingle Bells or Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer:

On Tuesday we gathered Data about which job would be better-an elf or a reindeer and made a pictogram:

Today's Data involved a box of Celebrations! Everyone picked their favourite chocolate and helped to make our bar chart showing the data:

Then we counted how many of each chocolate there were and took note of the data.

Guess Ms. Keane's Favourite! 😂

Arctic Explorers

Here are some photos from playtime last week. We have been learning all about the Arctic to prepare for our own Arctic adventures there for playtime!

Polar Bear drawings

Arctic and North Pole Playdough mats

Dancing for P.E.

How good are our moves??? Have a look at the Juniors and Seniors performing 'A Bird Flew into the Wood', a dance from Finland.
