When writing, we try to remember our chicken, giraffe and monkey letters. This helps with placement and sizing of letters on a page or in a copy.
These are our Caterpillar C letters. To correctly form these letters, they all first begin with a 'c' shape.
We also have this rhyme before handwriting to prepare (I call out the number part and the children answer):
Here are the Dolch Words. These are words that are hard to read and spell and so must be learned by sight. Juniors work on recognising the word, Seniors reading and beginning to spell and 1st Class on learning spelling of the words.
