We have been having lots of fun learning about capacity this week in school! Here is a video of one lesson. Ms. Keane was feeling very thirsty. Every group got two cups which looked like they could hold similar amounts of water. Which cup could hold more???
Each group got a basin of water. The other capacity resources, e.g. Jugs, small cups, tubs, etc., were all left out for the children to use too. Working together, the children had to prove which cup held the most.
Some groups filled each cup and checked how much they held using the measuring jug. Toby figured out that he could just fill up one, pour it into the other and see if it reached the top or overflowed! There was lots of cooperative learning, language development, problem solving...and very few spills!
