Exploring Lines through Art

This week in school we were looking at different types of lines that can be used in art. We practiced straight lines, curvy ones, dotted lines, zig-zag, clouds, castle lines and looped lines. Then we picked our favourite lines and drew them across a big page and painted with different colours between the lines.
The children concentrated very hard on this activity, and their finished masterpieces look amazing!

Brain Breaks

In our classroom we do a lot of brain breaks. These are active breaks from concentrating on written work. There is lots of research showing that breaks like these increase academic achievement, help with concentration, improve behaviour and student attitudes.

Brain breaks increase oxygen and energy flow to the brain, which reduces stress levels and helps children to re-focus.

We love to do dancing in our classroom as a brain break, and some stretching too! We use the website GoNoodle and also some YouTube videos. Sometimes we have quick disco to get all the crazy sillies out and to help us to get ready to learn!
