Plants
We have begun learning about plants this week! During Aistear, everyone got a chance to plant some lovely vegetables. We also have a Garden Centre in the role play area and the children all made some seed packets to sell with a list of what their seeds need to grow on the back! We're so excited to learn more about plants and other life cycles during the month!
We also had great fun during STEM Stations on Friday! We did some printing using different parts of flowers, playing engineering games online and set up shops in our pods to practice using money (our Maths topic at the moment):
Finally, here are the children doing an AMAZING job during Gaeilge on Friday. They had to follow instructions as Gaeilge to draw and colour their teach, then they either labelled the parts of the house or wrote sentences about it. Dochreidte!! 🤩

Melting Snowmen
Last week during our festive STEM stations, each pod had to create a coat to prevent their snowmen from melting. The children had a variety of different fabrics to choose from and worked together to create these special coats to keep their snowmen cold! Great job everyone!

Peter the Polar Bear
The children in the Junior Room saved Christmas this week! On Monday, the children received a letter from poor Peter the polar bear, who was stranded in Lidl in Trim:
The children got straight to work. They made maps, built Arctic helicopters and Arctic scenes to help Peter when he got to our school. The children learned about polar bears and other Arctic animals, as well as Inuit people. They decorated our room to make it look more like the Arctic so Peter feel at home. On Friday, we baked cookies for Peter to bring to Santa (and a few for ourselves too!). Thanks to the children in the Junior Room, Peter got back to the North Pole in time to save Christmas!
The children loved watching videos and looking at pictures of the different animals in The Arctic.
There is a great photographer called Paul Nicklen who has a page on Instagram and a website: https://www.instagram.com/paulnicklen/?hl=en He has some fantastic wildlife pictures that your child might enjoy!
