Maths Trail

Last Friday the Junior Room went on a number hunt around Trim. Here are just some of the photos of numbers in the local environment they took with the new school iPads!  

Airport Aistear!

Following on from our Travel Agent themed playtime, we are now in the airport! There is a playdough station with mats based on the story Up, Up and Away, an art station where we are making Mexican-inspired art using the hojalata technique (using tin to make artwork), a writing station based on the story, and, best of all, an airport drama station! Bye, Bye, Butterfly

Today we said slán to our butterflies! Many thanks to the Parents' Association for getting them for us! It was amazing to see the journey from caterpillar to butterfly up close!  

The Airfield

We had an amazing morning today!!! We began by visiting a local airfield where an Aer Lingus pilot named Pat showed us different planes and went through the parts of a plane. Everyone got a turn to sit into one too! It was a very interesting and exciting way to learn! 

Afterwards, we went to visit the Reilly's house. A huge thank you to Darlene, Aileen McKenna and Sandy for making sure all of the children (and teachers!) were fed and watered before heading back to school! It was a super day! 

Class Book

Today we began our brand new class novel, Mad Grandad and the Flying Saucer! We didn't get a chance to start reading it as we were too busy exploring the cover. After discussing the title, author and illustrator, we looked closely at the picture. We made some predictions and asked questions. Then we turned the book over and read the blurb at the back. This gave us more information about what the book is about. Everyone made a prediction about the book and wrote and drew it.
