Then we went outside to go bird watching! We had to be very quiet so we didn't scare the birds away! We saw some crows and magpies.

Bird Watching
Today we looked at the different parts of a bird. We talked about the beak, wings, feathers, tails, breast and crown of a bird. Senior Infants labelled the parts of a bird and Junior Infants did a great job drawing birds in their copies.

The Gruffalo
Don't forget!
Money for the Gruffalo trip on Thursday needs to be brought in by tomorrow, Tuesday!
The bus will be leaving the
school at 9.20am. The show begins at
10am and lasts for 55mins. The children will have something small to eat before
returning to school, so please ensure your child has their packed lunch with them. The children will need to wear their *TRACKSUIT* on the day of the tour.
There is no need for your child to bring any money with them.
Junior and Senior Infants will
finish school at the usual time of 2pm, and First Class will finish at 3pm, as
per the norm.
The tour will cost €15. This includes €10 for entry to the
show and €5 for the cost of the bus.
* I mistakenly said the children should wear their uniform in the note that was sent home. Children should wear their tracksuit on Thursday as they will have P.E. later on in the day!

Names
We are working really hard on getting used to recognising and writing our names in school. Today we traced over our names on our table toppers and then we used playdough to make the different letters in our names!

Library Time
Today we went up to our lovely school library. We read our book about Chomp the Shark. Chomp was very nervous on his first day of school because none of the fish wanted to be his friend. We talked about how we would have felt if we were Chomp, and thought of ways to make sure nobody in our classroom would ever be left out.
Then everybody got a chance to look at the books in the library. We had to remember to use our quiet library voices, and to take care of the books.
On Friday, everyone will be allowed to pick two library books to bring home with them. Each Friday the children will return their books, and once they have been returned they can take out two new ones.
